life's all about challenges, some good some not so good but i personally LOVE scrap related challenges because they give me a starting point and push me to maybe try something I wouldn't normally or just get me going after a lul in mojo so here are a couple layouts I created for Scrapshotz challenges, Summer Sketchathon and in your Community.

in honor national scrapbook day there has been lots of unity fun going on and I had a fun day creating layouts and cards for the various challenges. One with Flower soft for the All Things unity challenge to "felt it up"....and a wonderful delicate stamp from the April Unity KOM, and a little 3" square Trifecta card for todays special challenge, 3", 3 embellies and Birthday........also using stamps from the April KOM.

the April KOM arrived in my mail a few days ago and I'm having such fun playing with it.....so glad I signed up again....and with all the new happenings at My Unity Place and all Things Unity there are some great challenges and tonnes of inspiration. It feels so good to be creative again, seems the winter dulldrums are slowly disappearing along with the mounds of snow outside........there are a bunch of Junco birds that are loving my feeder and hanging out on the deck and they're so fun to watch.......I'm enjoying the challenges at All Things Unity and here are two cards i created today for the sketch challenge just posted... I can hardly wait to start getting my Unity Kits again starting this month!!

I love my Unity/Ippity stamps........i spent several hours last week reorganizing and sorting them, putting like images and themes together in the stampendous thin containers and i LOVE how easy it is to find a stamp.......and to discover some that i've had for ages and never used once so its like getting a whole bunch of new Unity rubber!! and so here are a few cards I did this week, the last one was for the unity monthly challenge combining the color combo and sketch, the second last card for the all things unity button challenge. I hope in your neck of the woods the weather is better than mine (its been snowing for 2 days and we have a couple inches of fresh white stuff......i'm not impressed) but its a good excuse to stay warm inside and play with stamps and paper.

Still Alive!

How very very sad...........not one post since october........its not like i haven't been creative at all but for some reason it seems i've neglected my blog.....and I'm going to blame it on my Ipod and new Iphone!! its just so very handy to check my email and fb and things with the fabulous little portable devices that i really don't sit at the computer much, which means less message board time and apparently NO blog time. but i do have a few things to share.....I've done a fair bit of quilting as well this winter (and am in love with my new Pfaff sewing machine) so perhaps this blog will contain more than paper crafts from now on. I love both crafts equally so why not!!

Has it really been over 4 months since I've updated my blog and shared some creations with you? sheesh! I guess it was a crazy summer with holidays and my daughters august graduation (yep, august grad, don't ask why ugh!) and then a fabulous trip to Norway to see my brother, and a weekend at a quilt/scrap convention......time just flies when you're having fun and trying to keep head above water. So with fall stuff starting and routines set in place I know I'll have more scrappy time (have to if I'm going to start my monthly card classes in Nov) and hopefully post more often. Here are a few things I did a while back....

I have been having some creative fun playing and learning to color with copics so there will def. be more to come with those~!!!

my poor poor neglected blog........I've been absent for too long.......where have the past 2 months gone...no idea.......busy with this and that and whatever else but sheesh, i have been doing some crafting, teaching card classes in my home and they have been quite succesful.....but haven't taken the time to update here regularly. I'll try and improve I promise. here is a small selection of the past couple months.

at long last, after deciding it was time and the price was reasonable, i decided to buy a Cricut Expression machine...........well after weeks of dealing with a bad ebay seller and finally getting my money back and waiting for my new purchase to arrive it came...... and it was well worth the wait. I am having so much fun trying it out and creating with "bugz" and i look forward to increased creativity once i get the technical things figured with software etc. I think the possibilities are endless. My card class students will love the cuts they get to use tomorrow I' m sure.

I wanted to start off the new year with a new perpetual calendar and loved the cookie sheet ones i'd seen around so gave it a go and here is my finished product.......using magnet backing for easy changing around......themey bits for the month pieces.......and a place for a recent photo to be displayed. And a layout with our christmas card picture for 09. Enjoy and Happy 2010.

I am beyond excited, I head to Norway friday with my mom to see my only brother and his family and 4 yr old Gudmund I'm sure has changed since i saw him over a year ago...but he'll be full of energy for playing with his Tante Corry I hope...trucks and Cars for sure....perhaps we'll even catch bugs!!!! When i saw the adorable new UNITY stamp set Sketchy Little Boy i thought how appropriate....so i created a few cards, one of which will be flying across the ocean friday to my sweet nephew. And the UNITY Sept. KOM is so jammed with goodies...i added a few stamped touches to the layouts I was working on. More Unity goodness with my dt kit upon my return. God Bless!!!!

Time for Change!!!

They say change is good, as good as a rest and I think they are right. Decided not to go back to work at the school as a t.a. and I feel like I made the right decision. So I'm now working temporarily with my hubby building a road operating a big packer machine.......not stressful but good $ and I'm going to find some housecleaning jobs after i return home from Norway. Things will work out and I think I'll be a happier mom!! thats most important right?

Anyhoo, back to school for the kids......routine and lunches and all that.....back to a schedule and hopefully more time for me to create.....and what a great way to start off with my Guest DT Spot at UNITY . Just received my August KOM and it is fab......packed full of fun stamps......and I can hardly wait to get my dt package and get playing with that. Summer is just FLYING BYE way too fast - way too fast but we've had fun enjoying some soccer, some sunshine and some great Okanagan beach fun.....saw the class of 09 graduate - Congrats!!! and now we're ready for another Savanna Fair weekend full of neat entries, food and fun.

And today I am happy to say that i won the guest design team contest over at UNITY so i will be guest designer for September using some more of their AWESOME STAMPS. If you aren't a kit club member what are you waiting for..they are jam packed with great images and quotes.

i think summer is here.......well there is no school or work for me and the weather has cooperated on a few occasions but the pool sits there begging to be used and the heat just hasn't been in our favor but we really do need the rain that has been falling so i won't complain YET....just hope we get warm weather sometime over the next 6 weeks. Anyhoo, a few creative things i've done between coats and coats of paint and nailing up beadboard etc. some Unity stamps and fun feathers i bought.....happy day!!

how is it possible that 2 months have gone by and i haven't posted to my poor neglected blog!! ugh......well lets see, we did our ensuite reno project, had company for a week, drove million miles to soccer games, tournament in edmonton and practices for both kids, 4-h achievement day, yard cleanup and pool set up.......oh and i think i worked and slept and cooked and cleaned in there somewhere so i was just happy to keep up with my emails, visit the 3 message boards on occasion and get near my scraproom once a week. BUT that should change as things wind down like work and school, 4-H etc......we'll still have soccer but so glad that school will be out for summer. YIPEEE.

Want to say congrats to my 2 cousins on the birth of their babies, Katriel is such a sweety and i sure hope to meet Remington before too long. Enjoy parenthood you guys!!!!

And yeah for mb challenges and finding some mojo this weekend to get creative!!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Weekend. He is Risen!!! was a nice weekend, we are on spring break which is going by toooooo fast of course but i'm making some cards, went to the spa for some pampering yesterday with dd and that was great!!!! and haven't too much planned for the rest of the week so....

Carla always inspires with her creations and has a some blog candy to give away, yummy jems and jewels from KatyCards what a super collection she's offering up.

the snow is melting, the birds are back chirping at my feeders, the air is warmer, there are baby calves romping in the sunshine..........its been a long winter so i hope that is the last of snow we see till next year... so thankful for my hobbies to keep me sane during the cold winter months.

Well i remember what i loved about quilting years ago.......taking gorgeous fabrics, cutting them and sewing them back up to create a design.........yep, love it still and i can say that i have been very productive this past few months creating 9 quilted projects from full size to runners i'm pleased with what i've accomplished (using up my stash in the process feels great) and i'll share pics when i get the bindings all handsewn up.

Did get some stamps in the mail this week and they are adorable and fun to color......and perhaps i'll win this blog candy Whiff of Joy and add these to my collection of fun images to color and create with.

yep, its a good thing to have and i'm finding more mojo for card creations these days than layout but perhaps its my newfound love of crayons/blending and the amazing adorable stamps Like this magnolia one that have me inspired to make card after card.

Another one here based on a sketch from this cool new blog Mojo Monday that uses the newest BG line in my stash. awesome colors and i think i was looking at the Tilda in her skirt and sham and thinking Happy St Pat's day.........so i'll have to save this card till next march!!

I must say that over the past 10 years I've been scrapping and part of online boards i've seen so much generosity amongst scrappers.......they are always willing to share not only their time and ideas, help and guidance and inspiration but actual GOODIES......lots of giveaways on blogs (like Sarah's here, giving away supplies to celebrate HER birthday, cool hey?) and store owners are always generous with their prizes for crops.....its a pretty neat community that i'm proud to be part of......I'm thinking its time I did a little blog giveaway so watch over the next bit for some spring candy from me.

I decided today to open an Etsy store and see if I could sell some of my handmade cards that way......i seem to make so many over the course of a year, more than i will use so why not? so if you're interested i'm Here (unfortunately when I registered to buy a year or more ago i didn't realize my username would have to be the same if i were to open a shop so even though I have titled it Corry's Creations its under Corrysv2, my account name.......:( no changing it unless i want to start from scratch and lose my rating.)

my oh my how sad it is that i can't seem to post on here more than once a month (or less) but the weeks since Christmas have seemed rediculously busy, i guess i've been doing lots around the house with our bedro redo and sorting and purging to prep for the finishing of our ensuite, and then there's the quilting i've done, so i've accomplished lots when i'm not working or running for soccer but i am sad i can't get to this blog more often.

Anyhow, here are a few goodies to share with you for now.

I have fallen in love with card making again..........they are such fun little pieces of art, quicker to do than a layout SOMEtimes and its great fun to share them with friends and family. I'm thinking i should make some for the local Christmas craft sale this year and see how they go over.

I've been enjoying the challenges put on by the design team at Lil Scrappers as well as the sketches on 2 Sketches 4 You blog........great incentive and inspiration can be found there. Here is one i did for Kazan's #11 sketch. as well as a few others to get me in the holiday makin mood. And i'll wait to share the cards i created for their dt call :)
PS: THANK Carla for your ps tips on improving and jazzing up my project photos....... it really does help - if only the weather would cooperate for the actual photo taking.....was so windy on my deck i had a hard time keeping the cards on the bench LOL.

after 2.5 long years Lindsey got her braces off, whooooo, she is so glad, having to wear retainers for another year or so was a disappointment but at least she can eat carrots and apples again! A new cut/color to compliment the new smile too!

Well once again i'm not keeping up well here.......but i had an awesome weekend participating in 3 online crops at Scrap Fanatics, Life Preservers and Savvy N Sassy (which goes all week long so lots of time to join in and play). I've been having fun stamping and making cards too and using up old patterned papers from my stash (after removing it all from the zip bags and placing into upright jumbo magazine file holders which takes up way less space and is easy to flip through).
Here are some recent creations and i must mention the RED flower layered on the green, the bottom is punched from acrylic packaging, alcohol inked and stamped and then heated with my embossing gun.... is this a cool element and great way to recycle !!

well thats all for today but i really am going to try and post at least once a week if not more often......enjoy the last days of september.

Anyway, here are the two cards i made based on the weeks sketch and bonus sketches. So many possibilities. the summer, can't believe its Sept 1st and time to go back to school and work tomorrow. ugh. and where has the past 20 years gone.....Greg and i have been married 20 years this wednesday and its so hard to imagine - that's a long time yet looking through our wedding photos makes it seem like just yesterday we said our vows. I was THRILLED when i was cropping at the lss and discovered this Beautiful K and Co paper line, bought some, and when i came home it hit me that it was perfect for our wedding pictures. Royal blue is not an easy color to scrap and thats why its taken me 8 years to get at it. So here is my first acrylic album, using K and Co papers and Hambly (mostly) transperencies as well as various rub ons.

The past 10 days have flown by since the family reunion.......and after doing the basement reorganizing and seeing the new cupboards/shelves all in place and beautiful i found some time to scrap (between trips to town for a lil surgery and dental and chiro etc etc) so here are a few projects from July....and THANKS Jayme for asking me to be guest designer at Scrapbook Fanatics for the next 3 months......her kits ROCK and i had great fun with this one that included soft red colors, embossed flower paper and foil and beads.

and a few others i did with the june Life Preservers month kit.....yummy colors and pattern, perfect for summer photos.

And Mitchell's Driving and doing well so i had to document his getting his license.

Work for me is done........breathing a sigh of relief....so glad that warm weather is here, the pool is set up and warming, the kids have a few days of school left.....the big 4-H achievement day is behind us and was successful and I am proud to say that my photo shoot of the event went well and i made some money even :). I have barely had the time or energy to scrap but here are a few layouts from the past month. The crop at Life Preservers was fun, just sad i couldnt be there for the whole thing. I'm guest DT for the month at Savvy N Sassy and am just finishing up my projects with the ribbon kit i received. Hope today finds you celebrating with your family, celebrating your mom, being a mom, thankful for the one who raised you and has done so much for you, Love you Mom!!! I'm sharing a few pics of our herd, spring really is here when the calves come and start jumping and playing in the pasture, and the trees pop, a few days and we'll see a green hue over the valley, already the grass is looking sooo nice and green, i hope it stays warm, i really do. Kids started soccer last week, I'm down to 2 days a week at work which is really nice, more me time, and of course i've added a few layouts from the past while that i created with Scrapbook Fanatics and Life Preservers monthly Kits.

What is with the weather, yuck, cold and windy and snow in a bit, just when i thought i could start wearing my sandals and capri's old man winter returns... but hopefully not for long. Anyway, i've had time to scrap, staying inside and warm, long weekend.... so not all is lost. Poor dd and her classmates (along with dh/chaperone) had to turn around on their way to jasper for an environmental seminar thing due to bad roads) so i'm sure they are disappointed but better safe than sorry.

Can i tell you how much i LOVE the april Scrapbook Fanatics monthly kit, unfortunately its sold out but be sure to tune in May 1 for the next kit, they get better every time. some lo's i did with it. Been cropping along with Savvy N Sassy for their Olympic crop and got lots done!! Anxiously awaiting my life Preservers kits to arrive, they never disappoint, and in just 6 days i'll be enjoying Em's hospitality and cropping with 10 other gals for the weekend and i can't wait. So enjoy your weekend and hope you aren't getting hit with another winter blast like we are.

wants to be here and is trying hard despite a few freak snowfalls, some chilly nights and still a fair bit of white when i look outside over the valley, but it is changing and i'm glad to hear the birds singing, saw at least a dozen hawks yesterday on the way into town which must mean the mice are easy pickings with less snow around, and the pussy willows are popping (and i must wander outside and pick a bunch for the table). Busy, yep, as usual, we had a wonderful Easter break though, at Mom's in Kelowna, visiting with my brother and his adorable busy little (almost 3 yr old) guy, what fun. He loved to play chase and cars and have mitchell bounce him on the bed and our time was too short but better than nothing. lots of pics and lo's to follow of course since there were camera's in his face all the time!!! We did an egg hunt which he understood AFTER trying a chocolate egg and realizing what it was all about. The flu bug invaded and hindered our time there but we managed to do some junking and visiting friends/family and so it was well worth the drive.

Now its the final stretch before summer, counting down the days till i'm done my job as are the kids i'm sure. They wrote some midterms last week and got their report cards yesterday and did an excellent job once again, lots to be proud of!!! I'm playing in my scraproom when i have time, looking forward to a girls scrappy weekend coming up soon and can hardly wait to meet up with these ladies again. Easter/Spring Blessings

has it been a month since i posted? wow. not sure where those weeks went........ but i sure know what i was doing, everything but scrapping :) Mitch's hockey team had their league and prov playoffs (lots of games) and in the end they came second in their League, losing by 2 points in the final game, was exciting and they can be proud that they never lost a home game all season. Mitchell got a medal for most improved at the awards/wind up friday night so that was great to see him recognized for his dedication to learning net. I must say i enjoyed the hockey season (our first real involvement in Canada's Game) but am glad its over and i don't have to talk hockey for 6 months!

lets see, what else has filled the days and evenings.....
- 4-H speak offs and meeting
- Irish Stew supper fundraiser for the kids youth group going to the big YC in Edmonton
- ortho and dental appointments in town meaning more trips between hockey games
- Parent council meeting
- WORK and a touch of the flu to top it off!!!

BUT I am excited to say I Have one more day of work tuesday before heading to the sunny okanagan for Easter and a visit with my family (can't wait to see the G-man whos soon 3 and i'm sure as adorable as i remember). Lindsey is off to Costa Rica tuesday so will be worrying and praying for her safe travel and that they group has a great time and a once in a lifetime adventure.

This weekend i have enjoyed some down time at home so i took advantage and scrapbooked!! lots!! so heres a few lo's for you.

I applied for a dt position at Just Cre8, a newish canadian kit club/website with great kits, didn't make it but i did cre8 this layout for my application which i was happy with so thought i'd share it here now. AND the valentines cards i made for my family and the 26 kiddoes i help teach, i loved the puppy cards i saw in Scrap etc mag. and thought they'd be perfect but they were more work than i expected LOL. The red/black card was made using goodies from the feb kit at Scrapbook Fanatics.

And here's a little sampler for Valentines day i did this weekend after getting the newest Scrap Etc mag and seeing the one in there. Something fun for my seasonal display on my vintage singer sewing cabinet. It's about 9x12.

AT LAST the cold snap that blanketed the prairies has broken and we are above zero and dripping today!! will it last? it isn't sounding like it for very long but i will take anything "warm"i can get, especially with Mitchell's class on a 3 days outdoor camping adventure, they'll have a lot more fun skiing and snowshoeing in these temperatures.

The last few weeks flew by as usual with work and hockey games and 4-h stuff and this month will be much the same but the good thing is it means we are getting that much closer to Easter break and warmer weather and a visit with my mom, & brother Chris and his lil guy, i can't wait to see the G-man again, and he'll be almost 3. The countdown is on to the big trip to Costa Rica for Lindsey and her travelmates from school, we're busy rounding up all the stuff she needs and everyone is getting very excited.

I've tried to scrap when i have a spare moment so i'll share some of my recent creations (the big picture Load challenge was awesome and i am happy to say i posted a layout a day for the month of january and did more than the 31 necessary). So here ya go... and the layouts "can spot come in, and Boy on the go"are created with january Life Preservers kits!!!!

Its already the middle of January, how is that possible? i guess being busy means that time flies by even faster and the song Don't Blink gets me every time i hear it on the radio. I Must do a layout with that title and the lyrics sometime.

I signed up for the get a Load of this, class on Big Picture Scrapbooking and its been great having that pressure to upload something every day and i've succeeded at that, even though i've done multiple projects a couple times so i wouldn't miss a day, its been fun. I had hoped when i signed up to use it as incentive to get my Maui album done, but so far i have only done maybe half the projects as layouts for this album, but i have done some so thats bonus right? here are a few layouts from this month, some for the dt at Scrapbook Matters lss, and some just for fun to play!!!

I'm anxiously waiting for my January Life Preservers kit, my first month creating with one of Shellye's awesome kits for her dt, and i'm excited. We are planning a crop for Feb 9th weekend so be sure to join us for games and challenges and fun.

Oh yeah, Tim Holtz (and his ranger products) rocks, i was following a link suggested to his 12 tags of Christmas posts and WOWzers, i could hardly wait to play with my distress inks and alcohol inks and it was fun. i remember what i loved about stamping and ink in general, enjoy my samples. (which will be made into cards someday probably) I hunted down the tonic studios scratcher and poker and they are cool tools, love ebay.

I spent last weekend in red deer at a 4-H leaders conference which was awesome, and i played hookie for 2 hrs and enjoyed visiting with Rhea from SNS for a bit as she took me shopping to see the lss there, spend some money and see what was new, thanks Rhea, was great to see you again.

its already time turn that calendar to January, i can't believe 2008 is tomorrow! where did the year go. seems the older i get the faster time flies. Resolutions? no i don't make any really, not worth looking back in disappointment i figure. i may think of things i'd like to change, things i could do better or more but i don't put them in writing, that makes them too official. I think for 08 i'd just like to try enjoying my job more, this fall has been a big adjustment and i know i will survive and make it till june but i need to be more positive about it. I will scrap, as much as is possible, and look forward to working with the gals at Life Preservers and the great monthly kits!!! Improve on my photography, practice practice. I look forward to Jan 11th weekend when i head to the 4-H Leaders conference with Theresa, should be fun and educational, to march and spring break when i will see my brother Chris and my nephew in kelowna hopefully, and will send Lindsey off to Costa Rica for the adventure of her life!!! it will be a great year I have no doubt, with tonnes to do and memories to record. Hope yours starts off great, Happy 2008!!!

it's hard to believe it was 17 years ago we stopped in Shaunavon hospital as we didn't think we'd make our intended destination of Swift Current hospital and we probably wouldn't have, you came quickly. It was a rollercoaster ride from the start when the dr's said you had problems and may not survive the night, off you flew to Saskatoon to the NICU where you spent a few days before you were doing well and eating enough to be released and could go home. We spent that Christmas with Barb and Ruben and the family then drove you home to Frontier. Cornelia De Lange syndrome was not something we had ever heard of until your diagnoses a short while later and all that came with it was hard to hear, heart defect, abnormal growth, cleft pallet, etc but you were so sweet and were content to be held and swing in your swing, you seemed pretty healthy and normal to us. I remember calling the hospital nicu to ask for a replacement soother like the one they gave you while there because you wouldn't take any other one.

We were so thankful for the health and progress you made over the 2 short years you were with us, we had some scares with pnemonia and breathing issues, a couple hospital stays for tests etc but we treasured all those things. Making the decision to go ahead with the heart surgery was not easy but we felt it was best for you, and in the end it was just your time to go i guess, God needed you in heaven with Him. We'll always remember your little smile and your dark hair, and the way you stood stiff on your daddy's hands. Happy Birthday Jessica.

Oh Christmas Tree....

Oh Christmas tree, and all the trimmings are up at our house making it feel like the big day is just around the corner, which it is!!! I'm not quite ready, have a few more gifts to buy, and have done no wrapping yet but i like to do that all at once a day or two before :). I did get all my cards MADE and almost all of them have been mailed. This group photo in front of our tree was included in them for fun, thanks my sweet family for posing for me. Aside from work and christmas preparations and hockey games and practices and domestic duties and sleep here and there, not much is new since i last posted, rediculous how long between postings and i apologize but i will share a few projects i have squeezed in in my spare time for your viewing pleasure.

I want to thank those who have joined me in praying for my cousin who was in a terrible vehicle accident a week ago. He is doing so well, is off the ventilator, is talking and coherent and sounds like he will make a full recovery. God is good and does answer prayer!!!

We are getting company for Christmas and cannot wait to see my SIL and her family, its been too long. Tomorrow is our church concert so have been busy practicing for that and it should be lots of fun. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with friends and family and blessings to you. Lets not forget that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and i'm thankful to be in a community where my views are shared and expressed, and to live in a country that still allows us to Say Merry CHristmas, it seems that is not the case in lots of places and His birth is not the focus any longer in schools or communities.

a month since i last posted but so close i feel terrible. My apologies to my faithful scrap friends and family, but ughhhhh life gets in the way sometimes and my blog gets neglected. I do have GOOD NEWS to share, i made the Design Team at Life Preservers and the kits SHellye puts together are awesome and i can't wait to work with her, the monthly kits and the team there. So for 2008 catch me and my goodies there and please join the boards, its a great group of wonderful ladies and a nice home online.

Wrapping up my dt term at SNS with december being my last month. Its been a fun run and i'll continue to collect the wonderful ribbon kits Rhea puts together, love ribbon. Here are a few things i created for november with the Rocket Man kit.

I'm also on the design team for a new Local Scrap store in GP called Scrapbook Matters and Michelle is great to work for, great kits that i have loved working with so i'll share some of those creations with you here too.

what else is new, well, Mitchell is playing hockey, I'm surviving (although nervous when my "baby"is out on the ice with all those bigger boys who've had years of experience) and no injuries so far so PTL for that one. 4-H is underway with Greg and I are assistant leaders and so far its going well. Look forward to a leadership conference that the General leader and I are going to in January. Well, best start uploading some pics to share before lindsey and i have to leave for a meeting about her Trip to Costa Rica in March, time is ticking away and she'll be flying there before we know it. Have a Great Thanksgiving to my American Friends and God Bless. I've realized this fall how thankful i am that i was able to be a SAHM for 15 years, i think it was the best job i could've had. I enjoy the kids at school but i'm not sure i'm cut out to do it for the long haul LOL.

Kim Watson tagged me to share 7 facts about myself so here goes, i'll play (and thanks for the comments about my pics of late, perhaps its just my new Canon XTi thats taking better pics but i am studying and trying to improve and learn).

1. i was terribly shy as a child, hated being up in front of people but working at Wendy's as a teen and being in charge of a crew brought me out of my shell and helped with that
2. i love singing at church and concerts/weddings but don't ask me to speak off the cuff first LOL, my dream is to record and album
3. i was a nail biter till last summer and have now been enjoying having fingernails for over a year, its never to late to break a bad habit
4. i'm married to my highschool sweetheart, we started dating when i was 15
5. i'd love to change my thin fine straight hair and crooked nose
6. i was born and raised in the city but have adjusted quite well to farm life and living in the country
7. i should have a job as a professional shopper LOL, i get a thrill from spotting a bargain whether it be new or at thrift shops or garage sales, it would be an awesome career.

Wow, its been a while since i've updated and we've been across the ocean and back since :) Maui was wonderful, amazingly warm and beautiful with such gorgeous trees and flowers, i'll not soon forget. Anne and Phillip's wedding was just perfect, truly a celebration in paradise at the quaintest little church and Inn. We enjoyed touring the island, walking the beach, snorkelling and swimming in the ocean and pool at our condo. Eating out at restaurants with such fun atmosphere where there were no windows and lots of island breeze blowing through and birds on the floors, lively music and great food of course. We shopped, so many great places to browse and see what goods were for sale and pick up souvenir's to bring home, and a few things for ourselves :) I can hardly wait to go back and take the kids, the snorkelling was amazing and i wish we had had a few more days to explore more places and see more tropical fish and perhaps some turtles and whales.

I can't say that i really enjoyed the flying and the airport waiting but we managed and it was worth the 14 hours in the air and the day spent waiting in airports to catch our flights and go through security etc. I got randomly selected for a pat down in edmonton so i felt "special"but it was nothing serious LOL, just my luck though :). Our condo was good, lots of room, perfect location in Kihei, and a lovely ocean view and bunking with Judi, Ken and Ian was a blast!!! you were great company.

There is nothing like an early morning walk on the beach with the warm breeze and sun coming up and a temperature that for me is as close to heaven as possible!! The smell of the plumaria blossoms is soooo sweet, wish there was a perfume that did it justice. I took hundreds of photos so i'll start by sharing some of the highlites and my faves from the trip and will try and put up a photobucket album for more.

Was great to see the kids, we've not left them for that long before but they managed just fine with their grandparents and i needn't have worried about them.

Tomorrow is back to work for me, back to reality, back to my fleece pants and socks and keeping the wood stove going :) and i'll share a couple photos of the little flock of puppies that greets us when we head out to the shop. they are 6 weeks old and we have 6 out of the 11 left, so stinking cute with unique personalities and i'm sure the ones that have gone to new homes already are being loved to death.

Oh, and that little hobby i have, scrapbooking, well i can hardly wait to get some pics printed from our trip and start scrapping them, i have lots of memorobelia to use like sand and shells and maps, restaurant menus and fun postcards. I already made a couple necklaces with some shell and coral beads i bought in Maui.

so enjoy the snapshots of our trip and the puppies.

Creative skills - sharing?

Ali Edwards ezine is great, love her philosophy on being a "life artist" ,just DO IT, capture the everyday, go with the flow type attitude (not that i can do her style myself but i have tried), and enjoy her challenges. this weeks ezine she challenged us to share our creative skills with others online or personally, to share what we do as scrapbookers that we are good at. Hmmm, i'm not sure quite what to share, i'd say color mixing but with the awesome pp collections and monthly kits i get lately that coordinate, that is the easy part, it feels like cheating sort of LOL. perhaps the way i manage to mix and use so many different patterned papers is my skill? i always want to try and use the most variety to take advantage of the sets and as many pieces as i can on one project and it can be hard but sometimes all you need is a little piece to get that nice mix of all the colors and contrast/design. You can never go wrong with a floral, a stripe and a plaid or polkadot. I guess my quilting for 8 years prior to catching the scrapping bug taught me about putting patterns and colours together but truthfully, i'm going to give credit where its due. I come from generations of talented creative women, my grandma has been quilting and painting and growing a beautiful garden full of color and design for years, and my mom just has the natural ability to design and decorate and quilt and sew..... so i say thanks to them for their instruction and their "genes".

Perhaps you can look at my layouts and tell me what my scrap skill is? i feel like my titles are sometime quirky or corny and obvious but i enjoy composing them and setting them out on a page. I am pretty handy with my sewing machine and paper :) but i don't seem to do it as often as i use to. Anyway, i just thought i'd throw that out for you today, and hope you'll comment and maybe share a link to somewhere you've shared your scrap skill with others.

I can't imagine where the last 3 weeks went since my last post!! sorry for slacking off but i guess i've been busy with back to school and back to work and getting my feet wet at my new job. The kids are both playing volleyball (yeah, totally love the sport) so that has occupied a few extra days and evenings.

Fall has officially arrived here, well i think its still fall, we woke up to white one morning which didn't impress me much but it didn't last. did a number on lots of plants and veggies growing in peoples gardens though but its par for the course here.

We're counting down the days till we head across the ocean to Maui and i can hardly wait - 17 days - whoooohooooo. My suitcase is open and slowing being filled, i'm cleaning windows and such in preparation for winter and company, the calendar is filling fast with appointments for a pedicure and a hair cut and volleyball games and tournaments so i know the time will go fast.

Of course i do manage to fit in a bit of scrappy time when i can, loved the bright fun ribbon kit i had to work with from Savvy n Sassy this month, here are some projects i made as well as a few others i created for the new lss opening soon in GP - Scrapbook Matters!

Well it may be the end of August and summer as we know it since its back to school in just a few, and the weather hasn't been exactly nice, but its been a good week, found my mojo again after weeks without scrapping, got a layout picked up for winter issue by Canadian Scrapbooker which is so cool, AND (THANKS to MICHELLE B.) got asked to be on the premier dt for a new lss opening up in GP mid oct. (the city near us where I shop and do business) so it's been a good week scrapwise and i've even managed to create several pages i'm pleased with, some for the new dt (hmm, not sure i even heard the name of the new store) , some just for fun with summer photos and some cause i simply had/wanted to play with all the new kits and papers i accumulated over the summer. (how does that happen when i don't scrap for weeks and i didn't scrap shop on holidays once!). Anyway, Life Preservers, Mosh Posh, Lisa's Scrap Shack, have provided hours of fun for me this week and here are some of the results.

had a day to stay home and scrap, yep , i almost forgot how but not quite!!! Here are the projects i created with the SavvyNSassy August sassy ribbon kit which is yummy. I LOVE red, always have, to wear and decorate with, i loved using it with all the different patterned papers.

Its still COLD here, rainy and dreary, i can see a wee bit of sunshine and blue sky but its not enough for me. I suppose we'll drain the pool this weekend (Cryin here big time) as it doesn't sound like it will warm up much and i'm sure the water is way too cold to enjoy. The kids are ready for back to school with new supplies and clothes, even though they are not anxious to really go back to school the preparation is always fun. I found myself some fab new shoes for work/school too so I'm all set!!

We have our tickets booked for Maui, our passports will be in our hands this evening, the condo's are booked and I've got part of my wardrobe already planned to take, it may be close to 2 months away but i know how fast time flies, sooo excited. It feels more official now but till i step foot on the airplane (a big jet which will be a first for me) It won't seem quite real.

Just a quick post to let you all know we are home from our sunny okanagan holiday, the kids and i had a great time visiting and shopping and lazing on the beach (well mitch worked hard at perfecting his waterskiing skills and that means early mornings on Lake Okanagan) and i miss the heat and mom's good cooking already. It has not been nice since we got home, i sure hope summer isn't over here yet, we did not use the pool enough. This week i'm just getting unpacked and the house cleaned and stuff ready for the local fair that takes quite a bit of our time so its another busy week with no scrap time to speak off, i hope i don't forget how to make a layout when i finally do get back in the groove. will update soon with pics. Oh and love coming home to find goodies in my mailbox and today i got some gorgeous ribbon kits from Savvy N Sassy and i can hardly wait to play with them. Hope August is treating you well.

Why is it that when you have all the time in the world and plan to do something creative, you have no mojo, no juices flowing, and then when you're out of time you have all the inspiration in the world. Yep, just not fair. But I was productive a bit yesterday and today so here are those layouts and ya know when something just clicks and you're giddy with excitement when its done? thats how i feel about 10 years later!! i just loved the photos (Sears portrait) and the color combo, fun with scalloped edges and a lil bling for fun. Here's hoping someone else likes it enough to publish it!!!

Happy to have taken Second place in the challenge contest at Life Preservers and can't wait to see the prize Shellye sends.

The kids and i are packing our suitcases and sleeping bags and heading to Bible camp sunday for the week so I'm praying for strength and patience and no cuts in the kitchen!! I'm sure it will be lots of fun, it usually is. Have a good week.

Ribbon Ribbon glorious Ribbon

I've been having lots of fun creating with the great Savvy N Sassy ribbon kit i got for my dt assignment for July. It coordinates with the Zany Zinnia Tropical Breeze Kit and you can get the Ribbon Kit here. Lovely collection of flower trim, chocolate ric rac, laces and ribbons, yum. Here are the projects as well as one i did last week with a photo of my Great Grandma (and the black ribbon from SNS which went so well with the paper line i used) that i found and enlarged. Remembering.

Its HOT HOT HOT and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it, swimming and sunning and relaxing. Life is good, hay is ready to be cut so hope we can get that done before the weather changes (or maybe it won't and we'll have another gorgeous summer which would suite me just fine).

YEAH, my books arrived, Understanding Exposure, Digital SLR's for Dummies and the Unofficial Guide to PHotoshop CS2 so guess what i have to read and study over the summer, LOTS of info to absorb and take in, but i know i will reap the benefits of understanding these two important (and most expensive) tools of the trade. And improving my photography is a goal i can work towards. Did i mention i LOVE my new camera? Apparently the 50mm 1.4 lens is da bomb so better start saving my pennies for it, its a pricey one.

I love summertime but NOT so much the bees that are always around and it seems there are lots this year. Poor Mitchell got stung (or bit) on the forehead the other day while out with his dad on the quads and his face is just getting back to normal, it swelled quite a bit, so perhaps we'll have to be prepared for a reaction next time around. My peony finally bloomed after 3 years, of transplanting from Grandmas gorgeous garden so that makes me happy, i hope the other one will next year.

Just a few layouts to share that i did this past week, got my first DT kit from Savvy N Sassy so will have lots of fun with the ribbons they put together I'm sure. And i am now the owner of an ATG tape gun, the grandaddy of taperunners LOL. Thanks Rhea for doing the legwork and bringing those in, I'm sure we'll all appreciate the seemingly endless feet of STICKY adhesive and not having to worry about running out, not to mention the economy of it. Well for now its easy and i can sleep in a bit. The kids are off to camp for the week, the sun is shining and the pool water is warming up, my camera has taken many pics already and i'm anxious to get them developed, i scrapped 4 pages for challenges at Savvy N sassy that i'll share and i'm excited to share that i made the Savvy N Sassy Design team starting July 1 so yeah, bring on the awesome ribbon kits!!!

I must say i'm proud of my kids, both coming home with Academic Achievement awards and excellent report cards, they wrapped up another season of 4-H and Greg and I enjoyed some serious horseshoes and bocce ball at the school staff bbq at the lake! IT feels good to say I have the summer off and i'm going to relish the next 2 months as my work load will be heavier in the fall than it has been since.........well probably before i had kids, i haven't worked out of the house "full time"for man years.......it will be a change and a challenge.

and school is officially finished, work for me is DONE for this year and we can say Summer's Here. I must say i'm still giddy with excitement at having finally got my new Camera, the Rebel XTi with a zoom lens. its awesome. learning how to use it to its fullest potential will be a job but i'm up to it. SPeaking of jobs, i was offered a 20hr/wk position at school working with a few kindergarten kids who need extra help, its not for sure yet but sounds good. will mean none of the unexpected call ins that subbing brings which i look forward to. Pray for me, i'll need extra patience and energy to do this job. :)

Anyway, despite the crazy busy past 2 months i've managed to create some layouts i'm happy with, here are a few of them. Just participated in an online crop at Scrapbookers Clubhouse and got 5 layouts done and they had a great WORLD theme and some awesome challenges. was lots of fun.

And that means the weather is warmer, the last day of school and work is almost here, 4-H is over and the kids are happy to have finished another successful year with their calves. the cows and calves are out on the pasture enjoying all the green grass, my summer sandals are out and ready to wear daily, my windows are all clean and sparkly (well almost all of them) and the flowerbeds are starting to share their colors (as well as those rotten dandelions :) . I can honestly say May went by with a blurr, just rediculously busy and the kids and i ended the month with colds but we are on the mend. Have lots of fun layouts to share with you, mostly design team ones for L2S using Cosmo Cricket that i can't share there with the site down for the summer so here they are.

I also wanted to tell you how much i am loving PS these days especially with the help of the CK Computer tricks for scrapbooking as well as online help from friends, i will be including lots of pics and elements that i've played with in PS CS2 as the summer goes on. Its a learning curve but it feels so good to master something.

just a quick post to show you my recent layouts, the first one using Zany Zinnia's kit and savvy ribbon for a challenge on Savvy n sassy's RIbbon rave contest, the second one for a challenge at Scrapbookers Clubhouse using a sketch there, and using my newest MOSH POSH kit, LOVE new goodies to work with and can i just say the bazzill bling flowers are amazing.

FYI, there was a conversation not long ago between dd and i, actually when she was organizing all my scrapbook flowers into colors/jars and she asked "how come you don't have any black flowers mom"? well i decided i have black paint and white blossom, make one LOL. but i just got an awesome box of stuff from Lisas Scrap shack today and in there was a package of black bling blossoms so expect to see those on a layout soon.

to all my friends and family who are MOMS, hope you had a special day and were treated to breakfast in bed or lunch out or something to make you smile and feel appreciated. I hope my mom and grandma are having a great time on their trip, i want to say thanks for all you do and LOVE you both. Here is a fun page i did yesterday in honor of my Grandma who is amazing, riding a bike at her age, so active and strong, i hope i am like that in my golden years. This was for the ribbon RAVE contest at Savvy N Sassy, great challenges so far.

I got a dozen beautiful red roses from my family, so thoughtful, and was a lovely relaxing day. the believe layout i did for my dt assignment at Timeless Inspirations and i just had fun mixing the black with the cool colors of the patterned paper.

the Love2Scrap site is still down, going into withdrawal here so hope its up and running real soon, miss you guys.

Soccer starts tonight and the kids are sooo anxious to get out on the field, weather is looking up, green grass everywhere and the trees are popping so i am glad to see the blah brown disappear.
this week will fly by with lots of stuff going on, always an adventure. Chow for now.

May Day May Day

My schedule for May is looking quite busy so i hope to have a little scrap time between soccer practices, 4-H events, work and all the other things that spring brings. Hope everyone had a great National Scrapbook Day and celebrated with fellow scrappers online or at a real crop. I did a few pages but was a rather hectic weekend and with having our main computer crash and getting a replacement (at quite a steal i might add) and all that entails my brain was on technology overload LOL.

Anyway, for those who hang out with me at Love2Scrap the site is down for maintenance and will hopefully be up today or tomorrow so keep checking back. A good time was had by all at Timeless Inspirations and the challenges are still up and not due till wednesday nite so if you are looking for some ideas and inspiration be sure to stop by the SPring Fling forum for a looksee. Rhea and Share over at SavvynSassy have again put together some beautiful coordinating ribbon kits and i can hardly wait for them to arrive in my mailbox. I'll share a couple layouts i did recently that i love.

Oh and i forgot to shout out a big THANK YOU to Em (wordsmith) for the awesome weekend we had there scrapping and visiting and it was a great retreat. I completed 15 layouts so it was productive for me too.

SPRING, i think it has arrived

the snow is rapidly disappearing, our new dugout is almost full and i'm amazed at how quickly it filled up, there is green grass popping through here and there and the coralls are full of frisky black calves so spring must be here. I'm so glad. April was so busy with online crops and this and that, i got lots done and haven't taken time to update here, sorry. Blogger was giving me problems past couple days and i couldn't post but today no prob. I have some prizes coming in from those crops and i am so excited, love getting scrappy mail, and surprises to boot. here are a few of my faves from the past while. I'm off to scrapbook this coming weekend with 5 other gals and I am looking forward to it, will be a load of fun i'm sure.

may will be busy busy with 4-H stuff among what seems a million other things, so who knows how much i'll be able to post here but i will try. i have some fabulous design team packages to play with and post next week so will share sneaks when i get them done. I want to say kudos to Sarah's Shabby Shoppe for their week long crop and all i got done, to Savvy N sassy for the weekend one where i made some great altered items and won a great stamp set, the gals at Scrapbookers Clubhouse put on a great crop this past weekend and although the challenges at first seemed hard i did manage to complete several, was lots of fun. we are planning one at Love2Scrap for mid - may and hosting one at Timeless Inspirations may 5-8 so check back there for details. so happy spring and happy scrapping :)

can you see me doing the happy dance, its finally Spring Break, schools out for a week and i am so glad. Looking forward to time at home, sleeping in, no lunches or work for me, lots of time to relax and scrap. We've got plans to go visiting (and eating) for Easter sunday and the kids and I are performing tonight at the Good Friday service.

I managed to get quite a bit of scrapping done this past week, here are a few faves for you and i must say i love using the photos of Lindsey from our little photo shoot, Groovy is just one of those memorable pictures. others were for challenges and such on my fave sites. they really motivate me.

Spring Has Sprung???

well its March 26th and its beautiful here - finally! melting and warm and sunny but i am not holding my breath, it may not last but i'm "glad" to see the mud.

What a week, busy busy with our church supper thing that went well and i must say i'm glad its over, march has been stressful and i'm looking forward to a slower paced April with spring break from school in the middle there.

Poor Lindsey has got the chicken pox, she is not happy, about them or missing school but that is life, better now than as an adult like i was, NOT fun!!! I haven't dared try and snap a picture yet but i will, have to document the event somehow.

Here is a layout i did last week with a photo i played with in PS keeping her eyes blue as they are. A flower explosion on this layout "She", maybe thats my wishing for spring coming out on paper!

"Celebrate Every Detail" was fun to do, did it for a challenge or two on the boards and played a bit with some corrugated cardboard and stuff.

Oh and we have puppies, we thought we had lost our dog Zoe but she was only in hiding having two puppies, they are so cute already and the eyes are starting to open so will be getting pictures as soon as i can.

oh blah de oh blah da life goes on yeah, la la la la life goes on. And it surely does, no matter how much we complain about the weather, can't change it and its still winter here oh yeah, still snowing. I got my hair cut, or rather cut shorter as the cut two weeks ago just wasn't short enough and was driving me nuts. Went to my first physio appointement and got some home exercises to do. THe therapist said the part of my back that was injured is one of the hardest to work on and get back to full mobility and all i can do is stretch and strengthen the muscles around the area so i will try. Enjoyed a trip to the thrift shop that i haven't been to for ages, unloaded 5 bags and came home with one new one, mostly stuff for dd but i found a few treasures for myself..
this week has been busy, and the week ahead will be even moreso and i am already tired thinking of it. i don't suspect i'll get any scrapping and very little chatting done so i'll leave you with this page i finally finished after 4 days on the table. for a challenge at the Clubhouse based on a sketch as well as one at Love2Scrap with the title being This I know.... check out my galleries for the details on this layout.

and i can't believe i haven't posted since i found out the results at Timeless, i made the design team there, whooooo, thrilled to bits and can't wait to get started. Great group of gals and lots of talent there too. was a fun race and love the results of the challenges put forth each week.

Love2Scrap gallery is operational again so i guess i'll be sharing my latest creations there as time allows. Oh and dont forget to come chat wednesday nite with Elsie Flannigan on L2S, should be fun, just hope i get home from town in time to participate.

Think GREEN

Well its march, which means St Patricks' day is soon upon us and so i salute and give hugs to my special irish Mother In Law this month and have a few green things i'll share over the month. I am thinking green, and wishing for spring, just a hint even would be nice but its nowhere near, still have feet of snow around here and no sign of it quitting.

Whats new on the scrap front, well, Love 2Scrap forum is up and running again, love that its back, the gallery up soon too we hope! Planning a cybercrop there just not sure on the weekend quite yet. March is a hectic month so not sure how much extra scrapping I will get done but i am sure going to try.

Round 6 is just winding up at the Scrapazing race at Timeless. Fingers are crossed and will be an anxious day tomorrow when we find out who wins, who made the team, etc etc. It has been a blast i've done some things that i normally would not have tried and so pleased with all the creativity from everyone and myself. I love a good challenge and Share girl you rocked out with those. THANKS to the whole team for this game, it was a highlight that got me through the dreary winter blahs for sure. The tin can album, the transperent card, those were just a couple of the goodies i made last couple rounds.

I also managed to complete all 8 challenges put forth by the Scrapbookersclubhouse team and i say thanks to Nicole and the dt for a great motivational month. i LOVE getting so much done.

LOVE MUCH i just did today, its page 2 in my 12x12 calendar that is going to be "color themed" so of course February had to be red. can you guess the color for march??? :)

Teachers convention is this week wich means a short week for the kids and a night away for me. looking forward to some learning, fun, shopping and hanging out with the girls when we are there. I got my hair cut, still not sure if i am convinced its the best cut, will give it a couple more days and see.

I enjoyed my guest DT for february at Savvynsassy as well and loved the ribbon i had to work with. OUCH was another one i created using the brown ribbons from the Kit.

I must apologize for not updating more frequently. No excuses, just nothing exciting to say perhaps but i have a few fave projects from the past week or so that i will share. I have a terrible head cold (thanks to my family who had it first and felt they had to share with me) and its still too much like winter here with snow and cold weather. I must say i have had enough. Wish i could sneak into my mom's suitcase and go to Hawaii with her, that would be fabulous, but alas, thats not going to happen so i will plug away with life here.

BEST news of the day, the Love2Scrap forum is up and running again, yeahhh, it was missed and i hope to see everyone stop in and check it out and say hi. what a relief, too bad those hackers don't have anything better to do with their time than cause trouble.

I am happy to say i am onto round 5 in the Scrapazing race, competition is getting tougher and it will be a fight to the finish i am sure. "seriously Mo" is from round 4 challenge to use lots of ppaper and at least 4 manufacturers which i did and had fun. I love my silly cat.

I've had fun working with the ribbon kit for my guest DT spot at SavvyNSassy and "Scenic Pit Stop" is one of the layouts i have done so far.

"Make Music" was for a challenge on Timeless Inspirations to go with the DCWV 07 calendar challenge to create your own embellishments. I (with a lil help from Lindsey) cut out swirls and circles from the Fontwerks pp to make the border and title "music".

And who could resist that face, those adorable curls, and a Norwegian CHristmas greeting, i had to scrap the picture card using chatterbox and jumbo ric rac, handmade felt poinsettia, and various other goodies. God Jul to you too Gudmund.

i suppose thats enough for today but stay tuned, i've got lots of ideas and goodies in the making. Oh and I got the best prize package from my crop winnings from Sarah's Shabby Shoppe in the mail yesterday and wowzers, i am drooling over all the cool goodies. Its good to visit there again and connect with friends and the new owner, Sarah, Seems to be doing a great job.

What a nice surprise last week when my hubby brought me home a dozen roses, such a treat, so pretty and the splash of color in the midst of what is still serious winter weather was awesome. Of course i had to take a picture of them and they have since been "hung up to dry" LOL so i can enjoy them for a long long time. Thanks dear, love ya.

Its been a hectic week, back to work and an extra day today, just getting routine down again in time to get geared up for all the extra stuff going on with the kids, badminton starts monday, 4-H pancake supper, pizza party for hockey, etc etc, time just flies and the days are packed.

I am sad to say my term at Scrapbookers clubhouse as a dt member is over and it was my pleasure, great bunch of gals there to work with. It was also sad when Angelique decided to close the mboard down at Scrapbook Swede last week, glad the shop is still open though, so my dt term there has ended a bit early. Made it to round 3 in the cropazing race at Timeless so the competition is getting tough and i'm getting nervous but i have enjoyed the challenges. I am looking forward to cropping online at Sarah's Shabby shoppe this weekend and hope to get creative with the challenges and fun stuff going on there. Check it out!!

Baby Love was so much fun and i just love the portrait of Lindsey as a baby, and the Festive Nails was fun too when Lindsey and I did our nails up fancy over the Christmas Holidays, i still can't believe i HAVE nails, yep, they are still doing well, i think i've truly kicked the habit. I had fun doing some sweet valentines day projects for my family, still hoping for a few nice pictures for my february calendar page but so far nada. Hugs and stay warm

I am sorry i haven't updated my blog in days, have just been busy getting my DT assignments done, getting back into routine with some scrapping and work and all that fun stuff. I enjoyed the online crop this past weekend at Scrapbookers Clubhouse and am sad to say my term on the team there has come to an end, it was a blast and Nicole's service rocks!!! "Jolly" is one of the challenge layouts i did saturday.

I'm playing Scrapvivor on a new site i found, Timeless Inspirations and made it through to round two. "Life Happens" was the lo i did for that challenge, to use some old clothing pieces or parts on it, the black flowers were off of Lindsey's shoes and a few other embellishments were also recycled!

I also found out yesterday that i will be guest Designer for February over at SavvynSassy and i can't wait to get their ribbbon kit and play with that - i LOVE ribbon!!!! "first Season" was the layout i created for that contest, Mitchells close up smile behind his hockey mask speaks for itself!!

And anyday now the new magazine Scrapbook Dimensions should be releasing its first issue (in PDF format) with one of my layouts in it so i'm looking forward to seeing that. "Hip Necessity" is the layout in there that i created with a bit of digital and a lot of traditional scrapping.

I am hoping to scrap this coming weekend at the nearby community hall with friends who will be quilting and having a sleepover at my place so it should be a fun time.

Anyway, i am happy to say that my back is coming along nicely, its been one month and it gets better and better every day (and i can't wait till i can start massage and physiotherapy in a few weeks), i am LOVING our new wheels, such luxury! My new work schedule starts thursday and is just a little different than last semester so it will be nice to get back to that routine, january has flown by in a bit of a hazy blurr, here's hoping february is "normal". Hearts to you all for the wellwishes.

Going Digital? - nope

As fun as it is to see a layout come together on the computer I would/could never give up my precious scissors and paper, the smell of new stickers or chipboard, nope, I would not switch to digital scrap booking but I must say I am loving learning how to play with photoshop and do things in there to incorporate into my traditional paper layouts. Here is my first full digi layout using the free kit that CK had out last month. And the Merry layout I did as well using some free digital elements that Pick of the Patch has for their customers this month. I LOVE the film strips and am sure I will use those again and again. So despite being unable to scrap for long periods at a time i can still manage a bit of extra computer time to learn something new!!! all is not lost :)

And just FYI, i know that i should be capitalized but i am TOOOO lazy to do it so just pretend my shift key is broken for now LOL.

Pluggin' Away!!!!

Well it's been two weeks since the accident and I'm getting better, some days better than others, still frustrated that my body aches and won't cooperate when my mind has lots to do! I did manage "one-a-day" scrap success though and even if it wasn't as much production as i would have liked I guess its better than nothing. The design team at Love2Scrap was working with Basic Grey Blush paper kit this past month and did some fabulous work, be sure to check out the gallery there for inspiration and see what pops up on the BG website in the near future!! Here's one of the layouts I did with it. I am hoping that this coming week is better and that I can find my mojo and be productive before I have to head back to work. I learned a bit about Digital scrap'n with PS today so expect to see some of that encorporated into my traditional designs.

Well I must say I rang in the new year in a whole new eventful way this year. Jan 1 2007 found me laying on my back in a hospital bed staring at the ceiling, bored to tears but also shedding tears of relief because I was so thankful to be alive and that even though we rolled our vehicle on Dec 31st no one was seriously injured and we all walked away from the accident scene. God definitely had angels watching over us that day. I spent 24hrs in hospital and was released with instructions to take it easy, no heavy lifting or bending and that my 9th thoracic vertebrae had a (compression or witch (I think is what he said)) fracture but will heal completely and if I follow dr.s orders then will hopefully not have backpain down the road. It was a scarey ordeal for everyone involved, Lindsey was driving and felt so bad but we reminded her that vehicles are replaceable and we are all ok so we hope she will not be too scared to get behind the wheel in the near future.

Of course my "scrapbookers mind" (which had some seriously bored hours to ponder) has a few layout ideas going around in her head and I will share the results when I get around to creating those memorable layouts. As for next New Years Eve I will find some other form of entertainment to ring in the New Year, this is something I don't wish to have happen again.

THanks to some help from Lindsey and these awesome ribbon wraps from Magistical Memories i reorganized all my ribbon collection into this nice neat color coordinated, spacesaving method. I LOVE it. The spools were donated to the school art stash cause i couldn't bare to toss em in the trash and I'm sure the teachers will find something cool to create with those "wheels".

I added a "before" picture of my storage wall and the ribbon shelves which i am now using for small tins and boxes and cans of letters etc.

when this poem "Christmas in Heaven" was posted on Love2Scrap i knew i had to use it to create a special tribute layout to remember our precious Jessica Joy on what would have been her 16th birthday, today! Dec. 22 2006. December 22, 1990 was a special Christmas, having our first child, and although she was in the hospital with serious health issues we were thankful for her none the less. So Happy 16th Birthday my sweet Jess, and Merry Christmas in Heaven.

here are a few more pics and did I say it was HARD work getting the real tree from the bush by myself, yikes, deep deep snow and a heavier than i thought tree made for a real workout, love the smell but i still think i prefer the "artificial" variety. I bought the candlestick at a garage sale last month, gave it a new paint job (the creme is crackled but the photo doesn't show or do it justice) and added pretty new "bling" to make a new candydish/centrepiece for the table for fun!

Decked the Halls

Well, no updates here lately is because I have busy getting ready for CHristmas as well as planning a surprise party for Greg who's 40 in just a couple days. I, along with lots of help from my kiddoes, got the house all decorated and trimmed the trees, hung the lites, did a few fun extra projects (these window frames were so much fun and i LOVE the results)and have officialy Decked out our house so its feeling very festive. Shopping, well i haven't done much of that yet but soon. Here are a few pics from my Country CHristmas Home, stop by for some treats and coffee anytime over the holidays.

Oh and I decided to go with a bit of a glamorous tree for a change this year, inspired by the K and Co twinkle type glitter chipboard alphas which i LOVE in that awesome pale green color, i started hunting for anything in that shade to decorate with, so so pretty. Still have my snowman collection, a country quaint "real" tree down in the family room with all the ornaments from many years past which i enjoy, etc etc, i just love decorating for Christmas.

Let it Snow......no more please!! we have had quite enough and this cold frigid weather is getting to me. It sure can be pretty but it seems to be dragging on and on and it will make for a LONG winter if we don't get some repreive from it. I guess that's the perils of living in Northern Alberta. I had take a pic of this poor picnic table at Mitchell's hockey practice yesterday, just made me laugh.

It was a successful enjoyable weekend and lots of scrappin was done during the online crop at scrapbooking swede, 5 Random things was a layout i did for one of the challenges, Love Basic Grey. And I can safely share a DT fave of late with a great pic of my two good looking kiddoes that i did for Scrapbookers Clubhouse with their great Kit for December, loved working with the Dreamstreet papers and the bling, yummy. Trying to get some Christmas gifts and cards made as December is here and i am not prepared. Happy last day of November everyone.
